Scripture: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” -2 Corinthians 5:7
There’s a very specific kind of stress that comes with driving in heavy rain. The sky opens up, the road disappears, and suddenly your entire future seems to depend on two small windshield wipers doing their absolute best. They sweep, and you see. They stop, and you panic slightly. Then they sweep again. Clear. Not clear. Clear. Not clear. It’s not exactly comforting, but somehow it’s just enough to keep us going – to keep us moving.
That’s the thing about driving through rain: you’re not seeing the whole road. You’re only seeing just enough of it, one swipe at a time. And yet, you keep moving forward carefully, slowly, trusting that what you need to see will be there when you need to see it. It reminds me so much of faith. We would love full visibility, a clear map, and a ten-year plan neatly laid out with no surprises. But that’s not usually how God leads.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). God doesn’t require us to see everything at once. He gives light in moments, direction in pieces, and clarity as we need it. Sometimes He only shows us enough for the next step, not the next ten. Because that’s how faith grows—not in full visibility, but in repeated trust. So if the road ahead feels blurry, keep moving with the light God has given. One faithful step at a time.
If this Fireside Chat warmed your spirit and sparked fresh resolve to live what you believe, fan that flame with Scripture—“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16). Pull a little closer to the Light, and carry it into the week ahead.
