Scripture Focus:
Philemon 1:6 “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”
Let’s be honest—living out your faith in everyday life can feel a little clumsy at times. Like trying to find your footing when your thoughts, emotions, and circumstances aren’t quite moving in the same direction. One part of you wants to trust God fully, while another part is still trying to figure things out in real time.
But Scripture gives us a steady rhythm to come back to: acknowledging Christ in everything.
Philemon 1:6 shows that faith becomes powerful—not just when we talk about it, but when we live it by recognizing “every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” That shifts things. It takes faith out of the abstract and brings it right into the middle of daily life.
It’s not about having perfect understanding or always saying the right thing. It’s about learning to pause and recognize where Christ is already at work—in your thoughts, your growth, your responses, even in the quiet changes no one else sees.
And then there are the harder moments. The ones where life feels off, where things don’t go as planned, where your patience is thin and your perspective isn’t quite where you’d like it to be. Those moments count too.
Romans 8:28 reminds us that “all things work together for good to them that love God.” Not just the easy days, but the frustrating ones, the uncertain ones, the “I didn’t handle that the way I should have” kind of days. Even there, God is still working.
Acknowledging Christ in those moments isn’t about pretending everything is fine—it’s about choosing to recognize that He is still present, still shaping, still guiding.
And then there are the good moments—the ones where things feel light, steady, and full of joy. It’s easy to move through those without stopping to notice, but James 1:17 gently reminds us, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” That peace, that clarity, that unexpected encouragement—it all has a source.
Acknowledging Christ is really about keeping your perspective aligned. Not letting the difficult moments push Him out of view, and not letting the good moments pass without recognizing His hand.
Growth in faith doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in small, consistent shifts—learning to pause, reflect, and give God His place in both the ordinary and the meaningful.
So whether it’s a quiet morning, a full day, or one of those moments where things feel a little tangled—pause. Breathe. Acknowledge Him.
Because that’s where faith becomes real.
Reflection Questions:
1. What are some “good things” you can see in your life that come from Christ?
2. When was the last time you acknowledged God during a difficult moment?
3. Are you more likely to seek God in hard times or thank Him in good ones? Why?
4. What are some simple ways you can become more aware of God’s presence throughout your day?
5. How does recognizing God’s work in your life shape the way you respond to others?
Prayer Prompt:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the ways You are working in my life, even the ones I don’t always notice. Your Word says that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17), and I want to be more aware of that. Help me to acknowledge You not just in the big moments, but in the quiet, everyday ones too. When life feels steady, remind me to give thanks. When it feels uncertain, remind me that You are still present and still leading. Teach me to walk with You more intentionally, to recognize Your hand more clearly, and to trust You more fully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If this devotional stirred your heart to follow Christ more closely and to walk with purpose, take the next step in His Word—“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psalms 119:11). Keep your eyes on Jesus and let Scripture dwell richly in you day by day.
