Inspired by: Psalm 103:2
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
I used to search for blessings
in the bright and obvious places—
the victories, the open doors,
the moments that made my heart lift.
But gratitude taught me to listen
for smaller sounds—
the soft rustle of mercy behind me,
the steady breath of grace within me,
the gentle nearness of God beside me.
Now I gather gifts
not by counting what is large,
but by noticing what is faithful:
strength for one more step,
peace that settles like morning light,
protection I never knew to ask for.
And in this quiet remembering,
I find my soul restored—
for joy grows best
in hearts that pause long enough
to whisper,
“Lord, thank You…
for this, too.”
